Healthcare:
-Provide better funding to rural hospitals.
-Protect & end the privatization of medicaid.
-Invest in mental healthcare infrastructure.
-Restore Iowa’s practice of funding emergency contraception & abortions to rape victims.
-Repeal the laws running our OBGYNs out of state.
Education:
Every student deserves equal opportunity in learning.
-Repeal the private school voucher program. Public dollars belong to public schools.
-End Indoctrination in public schools.
-Add finance & credit education to the Iowa highschool curriculum.
-Restore & protect AEAs.
-Construct a grant program for Iowan college students who commit to stay here.
Family Values:
Let’s make the GOP’s claim of “Iowa being the best state to raise a family in” true for all Iowans.
-Work to improve the child care shortage & ensure all children are fed in public schools.
-End the privatization of Food Assistance Programs & repeal the food exceptions.
-Work to restore the Farm to School program funding.
-Repeal HF654/SF543. (allowing firearms in public & private school parking lots)
-Use the budget surplus to expand the child-tax credit.
Housing:
-Cap rent increases for current tenants to the rate of inflation (CPI), including renters in mobile homes &
apartments.
-Mandatory refund of application fees for anyone denied housing.
-Limit the number of rental properties landlords have, giving “low income” individuals more opportunity to
purchase homes.
-incentivizing affordable housing development through tax credits and subsidies
-Introduce legislature to streamline (and incentivize) the approval process for new affordable housing
developments.
Military & Veterans:
They have fought tirelessly for us, Leila will fight for them.
-Provide safe housing and food for our veterans and their families.
-Improve access to healthcare & expand that to mental healthcare.
Labor:
You shouldn’t live to work, you work to live!
-Repeal Right-to-Work Laws and laws that prevent public employees from striking.
-Restore public employees bargaining rights.
-Raise the minimum wage.
Criminal Justice:
-Decriminalize fentanyl test strips and needle exchanges in Iowa.
-Provide more funding to 1st Responding Departments for deescalation training and cultural awareness
programs.
-Reform probation and parole practices.
